About Nordic Walking: This up & coming sport was originally devised as an off season training method for cross country skiers. The estimated number of Nordic Walkers is now 3.5 million and growing.

Nordic Walking, which incorporates the use of specially designed poles, offers an extremely effective workout for the whole body. Whilst the technique matches the movements of the body when walking normally, the use of poles contributes towards enhanced balance & posture. In addition, the engagement of the upper body when walking with poles allows a number of important benefits:
- 20-46% more calories are burnt compared to normal walking.
- Strengthening of the spine due to rotation of the upper body.
- Release of muscle tension and pain in the neck and shoulders.
- Reduction in load on hip & knee joints.
